THE MYSTERY OF THANKSGIVING

“O Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people. Psalms 105:1.

Thanksgiving is an act of showing deep appreciation to the Almighty God for His strange hand upon our lives, it is giving unto the Lord glory, honour, adoration, blessing due unto His name for His wondrous works in our lives.

Through the heart of gratitude unto God we show that He does not neglect His duties in all phases of our lives, that He has kept His Word and stood by us to bring everything He promised us to pass. Thanksgiving is essentially judging God faithful in all respects irrespective of the life's situations or conditions.

King David , the second monarch that reigned In Israel had a deep thought on God's wondrous action upon His life and concluded.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, o most High. Psalm 92:1.

In other words, it is never a good thing to not give thanks unto the Lord. It is like judging God unfaithful, accusing Him that He is not doing His jobs and that His Words don't have effect at all.

The great doing of many people is that they neglect and undermine God's wondrous acts in their life and concentrate more on the challenges of life thereby judging God unfaithful which in turn make their life miserable.

David who concluded that it is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord knew why He said so. It is not that David did not face one difficulty or the other in his time because there was a time in his life when Saul sought to kill him, there was a time he lost his son, there was a time his kingdom was invaded and looted, there was a time he was conspired against by his son and his prophet Ahitophel.

In all these great trials and time of difficulty, David said "seven times in a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgment" Psalms 119:16. David maintained heart of gratitude even in the midst of challenges.

David must have compared his hard times with his happening times and saw that happening times of his life are heavier and weightier than his hard times and all his hard times put together can never be compared with a moment of his happening times that is why he said:

“The lord is upright and there is no unrighteousness with Him”

Psalms 92: 15.

Friend thanksgiving is a mystery, its rewards is unfathomable. Think of this, if ordinary "thank You" to a natural man could make you to see more of his blessings, how much more the Almighty God, the creator of heaven and earth?

Psalms 67:5-7 describes the rewards of thanksgiving as supernatural increase, fruitfulness, abundance, and strange order of prosperity such that will make people to marvel.

Beloved, if you must escape ruins in life never pretend not to see God's doings in your life, business, marriage, family, career, relationship, health, finances and what have you. There is always a point of thanksgiving in every situation of life if you know how to think very well on God's faithful ness over your life.

If you doubt God's faithfulness in any area of your life, you just go to any mortuary and ask them if people bring anything? they will ask you is it tat or slim, tall or short, dark or fair, old or young people? You will be told that all manner of dead bodies were brought to them. Aren't you happy that you are still alive?.

Never you settle down bemoaning your situation thinking on what has not worked in your life since the month of January till this December.

Possibly your marriage of couples of years back has not worked out a baby yet, maybe your business or career despite of your commitment and the rate of investment hasn't worked the way you wished it should be, maybe many suitors have promised you marriage this year but you still remain single. Possible you have longed to get admission to institution of higher learning this year but it hasn't come. Your own case could be something you have desired to see but hasn't come.

All you need do is to celebrate God's faithfulness in your life, appreciate Him and He will soon surprise you beyond measure.

What thanksgiving does is that it takes its giver further. You cannot appreciate God and experience either depreciation or emaciation in life. Strange altitude is as a result of heart of gratitude.

Learn to thank God for the past, appreciate Him for your present then celebrate Him for your future because it is more glorious and more colourful than you think it is. When you get there very shortly, you will know that what I am telling you is true. Your tomorrow is full of colours!

In conclusion, please think on this seriously! Thanksgiving could be likened to carbondioxide we breath out which is as a result of the oxygen we breath in. Oxygen we breathe in signifies the immeasurable blessings of God in our direction and to prove their receipt, we must breath out carbondioxide.

Could you imagine somebody who just breath in oxygen and refuses to give out carbondioxide, that fellow is as good as dead man.

When you do not appreciate God, you are making His breathe to be far from you. But you will not miss out of God's breathe over your life in Jesus name.
