UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF GRATITUDE

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord” Psalm 92:1

Gratitude or call it thanksgiving is an act of showing deep appreciation to the Almighty God for His strange doings in our lives. Thanksgiving is giving the Lord glory, honour, adoration, blessings etc, due unto His name for His wondrous acts in our lives.

Many people don't actually understand thanksgiving that is the reason why their lives is stinking, sinking and smelling, many don't really know what gratitude mean that is why their life, business, finances, health etc, is grounded.

I will help you appreciate what gratitude could be compared to or likened unto and these are as follows:

Gratitude could be likened to seed .

Seed nature is to grow, increase and multiply. Read Mark 4:31, John 12:24, Psalms 67:5-7. When you show gratitude to God, it yields tremendous increases into your life. When you thank God for the past blessing, you are qualified to receive more

Gratitude is like a layer that wraps up everything we do with God .

Our prayer must begin with thanksgiving Psalms 92 ; 1. When we are making our request from the Lord, thanksgiving must be there. Philipians 4:6. After we have asked God our heart desires, thanksgiving must continue. Psalms 64:5-7. While we are waiting to receive our heart desires, thanksgiving must be in place, Psalms 34:1., Having received our desires from the Lord, thanksgiving must follow to show appreciation to Him psalms 92:1

Gratitude could be likened to a feedback ,

Feedback simply means reply, it shows recognition .of what other person has offered us. Certainly, God has sent several blessings your ways this year, it is through gratitude you can let Him know that you indeed received those blessings He brought your ways. Habakkuk2:1.

Gratitude could also be likened to carbondioxide.

We breathe in oxygen which indicate that we receive several blessings from God. As a matter of must, we need to breathe out carbon dioxide in other words, show appreciation to the blessing we received from God. When we appreciate God, it is a significant sign of breathing out carbon dioxide.

Can you imagine someone who only breath in and refuses to breath out, you should know that, that person will never be alive. When one refuses to give thanks to God, it cut short ones life and destiny.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR GRATITUDE?

Don't forget, the reason why peoples life, business, health, career, academic and what I view keep depreciating is simply because they don't always appreciate God for His benefits towards them.

Hear this, there is a force behind thanksgiving, it automatically moves God to do more even when you don't ask or expect anything from Him because nothing ever depreciate nor reduce from the hands of thanksgiver, it keeps growing and multiplies.

The reasons why you must give God gratitude are as follows:

The first reason for gratitude is not to be grounded in life .

My profound mentor in the work of the ministry, Dr Oyedepo often says "if you take God for granted, you will be grounded" Read Isaiah 42:8, Matthew 21:44. Many lives, business, marriage even ministries are grounded because of ingratitude to God. When due glory is not giving to God, such life cannot but be grounded.

The second reason is that gratitude is expected from anyone who is alive. Read Psalms 6:5, Psalms 115:17, Psalms 150:6. No matter the challenges of life before you, if you are still alive, you must give God thanks for that is an attribute of those who are still breathing.

The third reason for gratitude is to experience continuous progress in life. Advancement, increase, supernatural growth only belong to those who appreciate God's doings in their lives. Thanksgiving takes it givers forward. The more you show appreciation, the more God brings elevation to your entire life. Psalms 65:5-7.

The fourth reason for gratitude is to judge God faithful.

1 Thessalonians5-24. When you appreciate God, you judge Him faithful for doing His work in your life, business and career etc.

The fifth reason for gratitude is to show how faithful you are to God for His blessings in your life . Psalms 103:1-3. No matter how small you think it is, God has blessed you in some way. If you are not faithful for all he has done in your life, you can never live to see fruitfulness in life.

The Sixth reason for gratitude is that is shows how thoughtful you are about God's blessings towards you. Until you think well you cannot count God's blessings towards you.

The Seventh reason for gratitude is that, gratitude is a good thing.

Psalms 92:1, Hear this, good thing will always attract good things no matter your condition in life, gratitude to God at all time is good. Ingratitude destroys God's blessings upon a life. It prevents good things and turns them to evil things.

Beloved, ingratitude is dangerous, cancerous and detrimental to your glorious destiny.

If the year ahead, year 2009 must be fruitful, restful and peaceful for you in all ramifications, you must lay it to heart to thank Him from the depth of your heart all He has done for you in 2008.
